Internationale Teams, enthusiastische Teilnehmer, begeisterte Jury-Mitglieder: Robothon® – The Grand Challenge ging im Rahmen der automatica 2023 in die nächste Runde. Der kollaborative Software- und Hardware-Entwicklungswettbewerb von munich_i adressiert Robotik-Fans weltweit und stellt sie vor eine bisher ungelöste Aufgabe im Bereich Umweltschutz. Wer sich hier einbringt, beweist Spitzenleistung – mithilfe von State-of-the-Art-Methoden und Teamgeist.
Das bewiesen die Robothon® Teams bei ihrer neuesten Challenge im Kampf gegen die industrielle Umweltverschmutzung. Erneut ging es um die Zerlegung und Sortierung von Elektroschrott, die durch automatisierte Recyclingprozesse noch effizienter und nachhaltiger erfolgen sollen. Dazu müssen Roboter befähigt werden, lose Komponenten in einer neuen Produktionsumgebung autonom zu erkennen, zu greifen und zu manipulieren.
Sobald die Challenge eingebrieft ist, geht es los: Vier Wochen bleibt den Teams, um ihr Können unter Beweis zu stellen und auf Basis einer KI- und Robotik-Plattform ihre Lösungen zu entwickeln. Dazu erhielten sie vorab ein eigens für die Challenge 2023 modifiziertes Taskboard. Zum offiziellen Start folgt die konkrete Aufgabenstellung mit fünf herausfordernden Levels sowie die Scorecard. Neben dem konkreten Lösungsansatz werden auch Ausführung und Schnelligkeit bewertet. Zur Jury zählen hochkarätige KI und Robotik-Experten sowie Vertreter der Industrie, die die besten Teams im Rahmen von munich_i auszeichnen. Für ihre Lösungen, ihr Engagement und ihren Anspruch, aktiv gegen die Probleme unserer Zeit vorzugehen.
Die Robothon®-Idee der Web-Dashboards als Digital Judge hat bereits überzeugt: 32 führende Forschungsinstitute, Universitäten und Industriepartner haben sich zusammengeschlossen, um ein europaweites und EU-gefördertes Challenge-Netzwerk mit der Bezeichnung „euROBIN“ zu schaffen, das auf diesem Konzept aufbaut.
