Tailored free offerings for students and young professionals
How to get pupils excited about technology, give college students a sense of achievement through hands-on experiences, and help young professionals looking for career opportunities? Our Young Talent and Career Day on Friday, June 27, 2025 offers all this and more with its program addressing all age groups. It includes technology and programming workshops, a 6-hour MAKEATHON, career counseling, resume photo shootings, and a compact program of lectures. The goal: inspiring youngsters to get into robotics and automation in order to help tackle the lack of specialists in STEM.
This offer provides a first glimpse into the world of programming and automation to pupils from elementary school onwards. It has a playful approach to technology as it pursues its goal of inspiring participants to get into STEM professions. It includes child-friendly Python programming lessons, the LEGO Mindstorms EV3, the small KARL robot by Medion, the pocket calculator-controlled TI-Innovator Rover by Texas Instruments, and the Raspberry Pi Microcontroller. Purpose-built demonstrators from the EU-funded EDUDEMOS project address the sustainable use of resources and renewable energies. Presented in cooperation with the Gerda Stetter Stiftung—‘Technology is fun!’.
This highlight is based on the successful SMART GREEN ISLAND MAKEATHON where students directly apply their theoretical knowledge in practice as they develop innovative solutions and prototypes in just six hours—in collaborative teams, with real-world tasks, and supported by experienced engineers.
The baby boomers are retiring from the workforce, specialists are increasingly hard to come by, and companies compete on an international level as they search for qualified employees. This is not exactly news. But did you know that most hires worldwide are planned in engineering? This creates excellent prospects for professionals looking for career opportunities. However, any potential job change also raises some questions: Which position suits me perfectly? What makes a company a good match for me? How can I take the initiative rather than just relying on headhunters?
The Young Talent and Career Day at automatica provides answers. Here, top HR managers provide you with individual career guidance. The presence of exciting potential employers at the leading exhibition for automation and robotics makes it easy for you to get in touch with company representatives and HR managers—giving you an opportunity to get first-hand information about vacancies, job profiles, career opportunities, and the companies themselves. Whether you want to kick-start your career or plan your next move up the ladder: You will certainly benefit from your trade fair visit.
Who is this for?
The target group includes engineers, IT specialists, as well as technical professionals and managers. The offer is aimed at young professionals (up to 3 years of experience) and professionals (>3 years of experience) in particular, but recent graduates and new entrants to the job market will be warmly welcomed as well.
What is individual career counseling like?
You will have the opportunity to ask all of your personal career-related questions and get advice during a 20-minute session with an HR expert. You may bring your application dossier to provide deeper insights into your career path and to get suggestions on how to improve your documents. Please note: Career counseling requires prior registration. We expect great demand so some applicants may not get a confirmed free counseling appointment. That is why registrations are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Appointments are available on site at 10:00 on Friday.
What is the resume photo shooting like?
This offer is first-come-first-serve as well. Appointments are available on site at 10:00 on Friday. The free resume photo—taken by a pro, of course—will be taken right on site and can be downloaded after the exhibition.
What is the presentation forum all about?
There will be interesting keynotes on job and career topics as part of a three-hour supporting program at the SummitStage in Hall B4 from 10:00 onwards. Example topics: salaries in engineering; the impact of AI on recruitment/application processes; particular opportunities for newcomers in the robotics and automation domain. A live link-up with the GermanWorld Robot Olympiad finals held on June 27, 2025 in Dortmund will generate even more enthusiasm for robotics and automation.
Where will the Young Talent and Career Day take place?
The area around the SummitStage in automatica Hall B4 is the central event location—right next to the Start-up Arena. By the way: TUM has its large AI.Society exhibition stand in Hall B4 as well. Apart from innovative robotics and AI applications, you will find even more information, inspiration, and insights for your career path.
