As the world’s leading trade fair for smart automation and robotics, automatica brings together all key technologies in the international technology hub of Munich. This makes it a meeting point for constructive and visionary cross-sectoral exchange between industrial, research and political representatives. And there is more: It offers an overview of global developments, topics, innovations, and solutions, thus providing the necessary orientation and investment security in these times of upheaval. So that the vision of gradual advancement from automated to autonomous production may become reality – providing an opportunity to grow for you and your company.
A fresh start for the industry: automatica 2022 was the first in-person event after a four-year break due to the pandemic—and it was able to once again confirm its leading position. The next leading exhibition will be held out of schedule together with LASER World of PHOTONICS before returning to its usual two-year cycle from 2023 onwards.
The past few years have shown that the world is changing faster than ever. Related issues and challenges are increasingly manifesting themselves in economics, society, and politics. As a result, the adoption of digitization and Industry 4.0 has gained unprecedented speed and the significance of automation and robotics has increased rapidly due to soaring demand. At the same time, climate protection has finally become an established item on the global to-do list.
It is not just a theoretical consideration that vulnerable logistics networks can bring industrial production to a grinding halt. The current supply issues affect everyone – and are much more than a luxury problem in sectors such as energy or healthcare. But how can we make supply chains less vulnerable? How can smart automation and digital networking contribute to greater economy, independency, and sustainability in European production facilities? What kind of ‘green’ technologies and systems do we need to make production energy-efficient and carbon-neutral? Smart AI-based production lines using robots, cobots, mobile robotic systems, and AGVs have what it takes.
automatica 2023 will show what this looks like in practice. The leading exhibition for smart automation and robotics covers the entire value chain: from components to systems, from services to applications—across all manufacturing sectors and in line with our vision of autonomous production. The trend topics? Digital Integration, Sustainable Production and Future of Work.
Let us make our way into an exciting and successful future together!
What will be the next steps in AI and robotics development, and what questions—particularly ethical ones—will such development raise? Under the theme of intelligence empowering tomorrow, the munich_i Hightech Summit highlights the interaction between human and artificial intelligence, and responsible technological change. This globally unique joint project of automatica, Messe München, and the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) connects science and research with politics and the industry in a targeted manner. Here, munich_i not only reflects the global state of research in robotics and AI, but also debates the ethical aspects in depth—making it a format of relevance to society at large.
The AI.Society special show presented prototypes and lighthouse projects of great practical relevance from across the four pivotal fields of work, healthcare, mobility, and environment. The munich_i Robothon® was another practice-oriented event involving a collaborative challenge for young talent to develop software and hardware solutions for difficult automation problems.
The patron and Bavarian Minister President Dr. Markus Söder commented: “With this AI and robotics platform, Bavaria sets the benchmark for the future! Technology is changing the world for the better. We believe in the opportunities.”
munich_i was launched as a digital format within the framework and as a highlight of automatica sprint 2021. The online format closed the gap between the 2018/2022 in-person automatica exhibitions and acted as a business and dialog platform with unlimited reach. With its exhibitor brand rooms as well as around 100 presentations, live demonstrations, and panel discussions, automatica sprint offered plenty of impetus and inspiration—and above all: a long-awaited opportunity for exchange and business.
A format that set a precedent: Proven digital offerings will be continued at the world's leading trade fair in 2023—to facilitate the participation of new international target groups who cannot be there in person.
