| AUTOMATICA
has been collaborating with VDMA Robotics + Automation and the
Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA)
to found the “Green Automation” initiative. | |
“Green Automation”: The idea“Green Automation” is dedicated to sustainability and
increasing resource effi ciency in — and with — automation
technology. The term “green” refers to automation
technology as a thrifty consumer of resources that is as efficient as
possible. On the other hand, it equally refers to automation technology
as a prerequisite for making renewable energies competitive and
successful.
Aspects of “Green Automation”The initiative revolves around fi nding new ways to improve automation
technology to make optimum use of resources and to use automation
technology to facilitate the competitive mass production of green
technologies.
The objective of the initiative
The guiding principle behind “Green Automation” is that
robotics and automation can and should play an active role in realising
environmental-protection objectives. Furthermore, reducing energy
consumption and costs improve a company’s ability to compete at
the international level.
The "Green Automation" initiative was a
special highlight at AUTOMATICA 2010 | In addition to several
exhibitor presentations at various stands and a series of lectures at the AUTOMATICA
Forum, this topic was also the focus of a visionary exhibit – a rope robot. |
The
"Green Automation" initiative was extremely well received by
exhibitors and visitors alike. They included Thilo Brodtmann, Managing Director
of VDMA Robotik + Automation:
"During the fair, it became clear that the
"Green Automation" initiative did an effective job of describing one
of the most significant growth sectors in the industry. After all, the
challenges with regard to energy and resource efficiency and the economical
manufacture of "green" products can only be met with the increased
use of intelligent automation technology."
