Partnership in the
field of automation in composite fibre technology Composite fibre materials, in particular those featuring carbon fibres,
offer the most potential when it comes to lightweight constructions; today
these materials are used in many fields of industry. In aircraft engineering
and in vehicle and machine engineering, the specific properties of these
materials can lead to improvements in performance, an increase in safety and
better environmental compatibility. However, the production costs associated
with composite fibre materials are currently still very high, because of a lack
of automated manufacturing systems. For this reason, high priority is now being
given to developing automated manufacturing systems that are capable of
handling large series production. Responding to this, a new long-term cooperation in the field of automated
systems for the manufacture of composite fibre materials has been launched by AUTOMATICA, the JEC Composites
Show, specialist trade show for composite materials, and SAMPE Europe – Society for
the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering. International congress and special pavilion The partnership is manifested in a dedicated 'Composites Pavilion'
organised by JEC Composites, and in a two-day trade conference, at AUTOMATICA
2010. This congress, entitled 'Advanced Composites for Automatisation' is being
organised by SAMPE under the direction of Professor Dr Klaus Drechsler, Head of the 'SGL Group Chair of Carbon Composites'
at the Technical University of Munich. The congress and the many scientific
lectures from industry and research are an ideal enhancement to the exhibition
stands. Here competent partners are combining their specific expertise and
cross-industry networks to offer a new platform to this technology. | |
